This year we’re inviting you to take a long and conscientious look at our vegetable garden, (and yours!) Ultimately we’d like to teach you what ever you want to know about vegetable gardening, so if you don’t see something you are wondering about PLEASE do ask.! This year I’ve added seed starting classes and dropped a few of the classes mid season, so I can spend that time visiting YOUR gardens, and advising first hand. They say a picture tells a thousand words, similarly, being in your garden space tells me more about your garden than you could ever describe. That’s why I’ve dropped a few mid season classes and incorporated a home consult into the full package; those who sign up for the full season of classes will be offered this service free of charge. This years classes will begin early (March 29th.) with seed starting. We’ll have one midsummer classes to address pest and fertility issues. Then we’ll meet up again at first harvest. Picking and preserving…eating, yes eating the fruits of our labors IS one of the greatest joys of gardening! This year we’ll play host to a grand garden party at the beginning of September, students bring one of their favorite garden dishes (preferably something you’ve grown) to share, and we’ll provide lots of ‘good eats’ from ours.

Potato classI’ve contemplated the price of this years classes long and hard. Although they appear higher, these prices do include most of the material costs. Organic, non GMO seeds, nutrients and additional soils, will be available BELOW retail prices I’ll have lots of informations on lights and lighting, but you won’t need fancy gadgets or gizmos to get seeds started. Please see specifics on class description page.

Classes cost $36 each. Students signing up for all classes will get a home consult as well as one free class this year. Payments need to be made at least two classes at a time to reserve your space and materials. Particularly the seed starting classes necessitate ordering supplies in advance. Sorry there will be no refunds, however if you miss a class, I’ll be happy to schedule a private consultation to keep you up to speed with the rest of the class. If you have any conflict with the scheduled dates please let me know as soon as possible.

Weekends already full? I’ll be happy to set up a week day class, so long as there are at least three students that wish to do so. Please call or attach your preferences to your registration.

Class sizes are limited, but we’ll do our level best to fit in everyone; or we’ll start a second class.

“FAMILIES IN THE GARDEN” classes will be exchanged for a “Moms and Tots” community weekday class. Most classes will be held at the Kittredge Community Garden, where we hope to establish at least one children’s garden this year. A one time fee of $25 will go to support the efforts of the community garden, however, these classes will be FREE to those holding a family membership in the Kittredge Civic Association! This class will be organized by the Moms who want to participate and will depend on the age of the kids participating, so hopefully both Moms and kids will learn and grow!

(You don’t have to be a member of the Kittredge Community to participate in this class, however the class itself will be structured around what this community wants and needs.) Please, contact me directly for more information about this class.
